Good Samaritan policies, also known as medical amnesty or immunity policies, offer protection to people trying to save another person’s life by calling for help in the case of an alcohol-related emergency. Many campuses around the United States have such a policy in place, but few students are aware of it. Click here (data provided by Students for Sensible Drug Policy) to see a list of universities that have adopted a Good Samaritan policy, as well as an article explaining the benefits of having such a policy on campus. Please take the time to research your campus’ policy. If you already have a Good Samaritan policy in place, make sure to promote it so that everyone is aware of it, and if your campus doesn’t, please add the Good Samaritan petition (below) to your toolbox and consider sharing the facts from the article below to encourage your institution to take the necessary steps to help save student lives!
